TU Men's Tennis Posts Strong Win Over Drake

Tulsa, Okla. - The 56th-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team defeated Drake Friday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.
In the match-up against Drake, Tulsa netted a 6-1 victory, earning victories in all three doubles matches to win the point. Tom Murray and Shunsuke Shimizu teamed up to post an 8-4 win over Drake's Anthony Perkins and Kirk Schuler in the No. 1 doubles position. Ryan Livesay and Alejandro Tejerina teamed up for the first time to earn an 8-6 victory over Jack Frankowicz and Felipe Montenegro in the No. 2 slot, while Dustin Taylor and Aleksander Charpantidis, who also teamed up for the first time, netted an 8-5 victory in the No. 3 position.
The Golden Hurricane's 38th-ranked Tejerina posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Frankowicz in the No. 2 singles position, as Livesay defeated Montenegro, 6-4, 6-2, in the third slot. Also for TU, Shimizu netted a 7-6, 6-3 win over Schuler, while Murray won 6-3, 6-2, over McClure. Charpantidis had a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 comeback win over Tishler in the No. 6 position, but 70th-ranked Taylor wasn't able to hold on in his super-tiebreaker match, falling 7-6, 4-6, 12-10, to Perkins in the No. 1 slot.
