Tulsa's 28th-Ranked Men's Tennis Team Dominated Army, 7-0

Tulsa, Okla. -Tulsa's 28th-ranked men's tennis team dominated Army, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the TU campus. The Golden Hurricane owns a 13-6 mark this season.
Tulsa senior Aleksander Charpantidis and junior Lucques Maasdorp tallied a quick 8-0 decision over Sean Harris and Phil Muhawi in the No. 3 doubles position, as sophomore Andy Connelly and red-shirt freshman Ross Cunningham combined for an 8-4 victory in the No. 2 slot. Sophomore Will Gray and junior Federico Soriano posted a 9-7 comeback win in the No. 1 position, as the Golden Hurricane swept the doubles point.
In singles action, 98th-ranked F. Soriano registered a 6-2, 6-0 mark over J. Houghton in the No. 1 slot, Charpantidis earned a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 2 position and Gray tabbed a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No. 3 slot. Connelly, Maasdorp and Cunningham all claimed wins in the bottom half of the lineup.
Tulsa Head Coach Vince Westbrook picked up his 200th career win today, to boast a 200-174 (.535) record with the men's program, the most wins ever for a TU coach.
"It is a great feeling to reach another milestone in my coaching career," Westbrook said. "There have been a lot of people who have helped get me to where I am today, and I thank them for that. This is Tulsa's team and I am proud to be a part of it."
The Golden Hurricane will return to action on Wednesday, April 5th as Tulsa hosts 33rd-ranked Oklahoma State beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Case Tennis Center.
