No. 34 Tulsa Men's Tennis Loses Heartbreaker to Oklahoma State, 4-3

TULSA, Okla. - The 34th-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team lost a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to No. 54 Oklahoma State in its regular season finale on Wednesday evening at the Case Tennis Center.
Ilija Martinoski came-from-behind to defeat Grant Ive, 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-3, in No. 4 singles to clinch the Oklahoma State victory.
Tulsa (14-9) started the match by winning the doubles point with a pair of tough wins in the No. 1 and 3 positions.
Oleksandr Nedovyesov and Eric West were off the court first as they defeated Marcelo Arevalo and Marko Ballok, 8-6, in the second flight. Alastair Barnes and Grant Ive answered with a 9-8 (5) decision over Anton Bobytskyi and Aleksey Bessonov in the No. 1 position, and Philip Stephens and Rusty Turpin scored a come-from-behind 9-7 victory over Maxi Kuhn and Ilija Martinoski in the No. 3 position to clinch the point.
Marko Ballok blew past Eric West, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 5 singles to give the Hurricane a 2-0 lead, but the Cowboys stormed back to take a 3-2 advantage by winning the next three singles matches off the court.
No. 14 Oleksandr Nedovyesov defeated No. 34 Marcelo Arevalo, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 1 position, followed by Aleksey Bessonov beating Philip Stephens 7-6 (3), 6-3 in the No. 2 slot. No. 124 Anton Bobytskyi gave OSU the lead with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) decision over Alastair Barnes in the No. 3 flight.
Tristan Jackson topped Maxi Kuhn, 7-6 (10), 6-3, in No. 6 singles to tie the score at 3-3, but Ilija Martinoski defeated Grant Ive, 6-7, 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 4 position to seal the 4-3 victory.
Tulsa heads to the Conference USA Championship on April 22-25 at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
