TU Ends Regular Season With 5-0 Victory Over Tulane

NEW ORLEANS - The No. 26-ranked University of Tulsa men's tennis team defeated Tulane 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Center. The Golden Hurricane (15-8, 4-0 Conference USA) has now won five straight matches and nine of its last 10. Tulane dropped to 11-10 on the season and 3-5 in league play. The junior duo of Grant Ive and Tristan Jackson opened doubles action by rolling over Adam Bernstein and Takuma Ohashi 8-0 on the second court. The sixth-ranked doubles team of senior Ashley Watling and junior Clifford Marsland fell 8-5 to Idan Mark and Joe Young on the top court to square proceedings. Sophomore Japie De Klerk and freshman Alejandro Espejo clinched the doubles point for the road team with a 9-8 (8-6) decision over Rodrigo Rappaccioli and Shaye Wali at the third flight. No. 93-ranked Marsland defeated Young 6-1, 6-4 at the second position to open singles play. Jackson dropped Bernstein 7-5, 6-0 at the fourth flight, and Ive clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Wali on the third court. Espejo topped Rappaccioli 6-4, 7-5 at the fifth position, and the other two matches went unfinished. The Golden Hurricane will now travel to Orlando, Fla., for the Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship April 19-22.
