No. 42 Men's Tennis Advances to C-USA Championship Match after a 4-0 win over Rice

TULSA, Okla. - The No. 1 seed University of Tulsa men's tennis team defeated No. 5 seed Rice 4-0 on Saturday in the semifinals of the Conference USA Men's Tennis Championships to advance to the championship to host No. 2 seed Tulane on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

For the second straight day, the Golden Hurricane (14-12) won the doubles point after getting wins from No. 27 senior Clifford Marsland and sophomore Dylan McCloskey 8-5 at the No. 1 position and from senior Japie De Klerk and junior Alejandro Espejo's 8-4 win at the No. 2 position.

Tulsa extended its lead to 2-0 after No. 85 Marsland's 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 2 singles position. The win was his 85th career singles win, which moves him into seventh most in school history and needs one win to tie sixth place.

Freshman Daniel Santos won his second match of the tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 6 singles position to give the Golden Hurricane a 3-0 lead and freshman Or Ram-Harel clinched the match for Tulsa with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles position.

With the win, the Golden Hurricane faces No. 67 Tulane (15-8), who defeated No. 3 seed East Carolina 4-0 on Saturday.

With Sunday's championship match, Tulsa will have played in all nine conference championship matches as a member of C-USA and has won six conference championships in eight seasons.
