WACO, Texas - Junior Alejandro Espejo defeated No. 31 Diego Galeano 6-4, 6-3 to capture the only match for the University of Tulsa as host No. 6 Baylor (25-5) defeated No. 43 Golden Hurricane (16-13) 4-1 in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Sunday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center as the match was moved indoors due to the high winds.

After the Golden Hurricane lost the doubles match at the No. 3 position, Tulsa trailed at the No. 2 position 6-2, but senior Japie De Klerk and Espejo battled back to pull within a point, 7-6. The Bears doubles duo won the final point to take an 8-6 win and to win the doubles point.

No. 27 senior Clifford Marsland and sophomore Dylan McCloskey was winning 7-5 at the No. 1 position over No. 21 Patrick Pradella and Mate Zsiga when the doubles point was decided.

Baylor extended its lead to 2-0 after a win at the No. 4 singles position, but Espejo's win at the No. 3 singles position cut BU's lead to 2-1.

The Bears won the final two singles matches at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions to win the match and to advance to the third round.

This is the second consecutive season that Baylor has ended Tulsa's run in the NCAA Championships. Last season, the Bears defeated the Golden Hurricane 4-2 in Waco.

Tulsa doubles duo of Marsland and McCloskey enters the NCAA Doubles Championships from May 21-26 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
