MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -

Senior Clifford Marsland, in his first competition of the fall campaign, advanced to the quarterfinals at the USTA/ITA Central Region Championship hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday, October 20.

Marsland, ranked No. 44 in the nation, took down SIU's Badr Cherradl 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the third round. In that round, he defeated Rifat Biktyakov of Oklahoma State 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 to move on in the tournament. He will face Drake's Robin Goodman tomorrow  morning.

In doubles play, the senior duo of Grant Ive and Tristan Jackson fell to Anis Ghorbel and James McKie of Drake, 9-7, during the round of 16.
