SKILLMAN, N.J. - Both of the University of Tulsa men's and women's tennis teams are ranked in the top-30 in the first team poll of the 2013-14 season by the International Tennis Association.

The men's team is ranked No. 25, the highest opening team ranking since the 2008-09 season as it opened at No. 13 and the women's team is ranked No. 29, its highest opening team ranking since the 2000-01 season when it opened at No. 26.

Carlos Bautista, who went a team-best 7-4, is the only men's singles player to be ranked at No. 71. Bautista went 3-1 at the USTA Collegiate Clay Courts in Orlando, Fla., and reached the semifinals before falling to Cristian Gonzalez Mendez of Florida State. The Ciudad Real, Spain native defeated No. 9-16 seed Benjamin Lock of Florida State and No. 7 seed Michael Grant of USC to reach the semifinals.

Senior Samantha Vickers and freshman Yelena Nemchen are both ranked in the top-50. Nemchen is ranked at No. 46 and Vickers is ranked at No. 47.

Vickers, who was named co-Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month in November, went 9-4 during the 2013 fall season and finished on a five-match winning streak. The Lincolnshire, England native went 3-0 at the Memphis Collegiate Invite and went 3-1 and fell in the final four at the Midland Invitational.

Nemchen went 5-2 in the 2013 fall season and went 4-1 at the USTA/ITA Central Regional in Norman, Okla., in her first collegiate tennis match.
