Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's Arnau Brugues has been selected as the Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week after opening the 2007 season with a 2-0 record en route to leading TU to wins over Lamar and Arkansas-Little Rock.

Brugues, the No. 6-ranked player in the nation, opened the season with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Lamar's Filip Kanczula. The Barcelona, Spain, native followed that with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over UALR's Dinko Halachev. Both wins came at the number one position.

Brugues was also 2-0 in doubles with partner Federico Soriano. The duo, ranked No. 12 in the nation, picked up an 8-4 win over Mario Janjic and Tyler Cobb of Lamar, followed by an 8-2 victory over Edson Abrao and Rain Roigas. Both wins came at the number two position.

The Golden Hurricane will next be in action when they participate in the Central Region Indoor Qualifier hosted at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on January 19-20.
