IRVING, Texas - The University of Tulsa men's tennis player Clifford Marsland was named Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.

The senior won both of his singles matches at the No. 2 position and went 1-1 in doubles at the No. 1 position.

The Perth, Australia native tied the match at one against host No. 39 Minnesota after he defeated Ruben Weber of Minnesota 6-5 (6), 6-3 and tied the match at three against No. 25 Harvard after he defeated Shaun Chaudhuri 6-5, 2-6, 6-3.

Marsland paired with sophomore Dylan McCloskey to defeat the No. 17 doubles team of Casey MacMaster and Denis Nguyen of Harvard 6-4 to tie the doubles point at one as TU won the doubles point against the Crimson.

Marsland and McCloskey fell to No. 47 doubles team of Jack Hamburg and Mathieu Froment of Minnesota 6-1.

Marsland has posted a 7-1 record in singles this season and has posted a 6-3 record in doubles with McCloskey.

This is Marsland's seventh weekly award in his career, the second this season. The Golden Hurricane has won all four men's tennis weekly awards this season (Japie De Klerk and Alejandro Espejo).

No. 34 Golden Hurricane (6-5) returns home for a four-match homestand starting with No. 64 Arkansas (6-3) on Friday at 6 p.m. and No. 50 Michigan State (4-4) on Sunday at noon.
