This Week, TU Hosts WAC Rival Fresno State:
In the lone match of the week, the 37th-ranked Golden Hurricane (6-3) hosts Western Athletic Conference rival Fresno State at 2:00 p.m. this Thursday at the Harwell Tennis Courts. The 20th-ranked Bulldogs are 2-2 this season, including 1-2 against the nation's top-45 teams.

The last time these two teams met was in the semifinals of the 1998-99 WAC Championships. The Bulldogs edged the Hurricane, 4-3, in that match.

TU Earns Split with East Coast Schools:
In two matches against two of the East Coast's top schools, Tulsa topped 37th-ranked North Carolina, 5-2, in Chapel Hill but dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to #14 Virginia Commonwealth.

TU's singles wins against North Carolina came from junior Dane McGregor (Port Elizabeth, South Africa), freshman Alejandro Tejerina (Mar del Plata, Argentina), senior Micah Zomer (Tulsa, Okla.) and junior Sean Monk (Las Vegas, Nev.). TU captured the doubles point with the top combination of McGregor and Shri Sudhakara (Bangalore, India) claiming the top spot, while Zomer and junior Mike Nammar (Tulsa, Okla.) were victorious at the bottom slot.

A day later in Richmond, Va., VCU began its match with Tulsa by sweeping all three doubles contests. Tulsa rallied in singles with McGregor, Sudhakara and Monk each posting wins, but the Rams also captured three wins to slide past the Hurricane, 4-3.

McGregor Breaks into National Polls:
Dane McGregor has broken into the national polls. In this week's WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings, McGregor is the 64th-ranked tennis player in the country. The ranking marks the first of his collegiate career. For the season, he is 13-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 against ranked opponents.

McGregor Receives WAC Player of the Week Honors...Again:
For the second time this season, Dane McGregor has been named the Western Athletic Conference men's tennis Player of the Week. This week, he received the award for matches played during Feb. 19-25. McGregor, led TU to a 1-1 record last week, while remaining perfect (9-0) in spring dual matches. At the No. 2 singles spot, McGregor rallied to win the second and third sets before teaming with classmate Shri Sudhakara to defeat the Tar Heels' top duo.

Against Virginia Commonwealth, McGregor upset the nation's 56th ranked singles player, Frank Moser, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, for his ninth straight victory. In doubles action, McGregor and Sudhakara suffered their first loss, 8-4, of the spring to Moser and Florian Marquardt, who are ranked fifth.
