MARSLAND NAMED C-USA MEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

IRVING, Texas - The University of Tulsa men's tennis athlete Clifford Marsland was named Conference USA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Marsland earned his ninth career weekly award, the fourth this season, as he won his singles and doubles matches against No. 48 TCU on Sunday.
No. 89 Marsland defeated No. 51 Nick Chappell of TCU 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles position to give TU a 2-1 lead. The Perth, Australia native has posted an 11-2 record in team competition this season in singles, including a 3-2 record against nationally ranked opponents and a 6-2 record against regionally ranked opponents.
No. 24 Marsland and sophomore Dylan McCloskey defeated No. 18 Chappell and Will Stein 8-6 at the No. 1 doubles position. The TU duo has posted a 9-5 record at the No. 1 doubles position in team competition, including a 5-3 record against nationally ranked opponents.
The men's team takes a weekend off before traveling to Indian River, Calif., to face California, ranked No. 14, on Sunday, March 16 at 2 p.m. in the Oracle Collegiate Tennis Challenge.
