Men's Tennis has Three Singles Athletes and Doubles Teams Ranked Nationally

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team has three singles athletes and a doubles teams ranked nationally after the International Tennis Association released its poll on Tuesday.

Senior Japie De Klerk leads TU with a No. 63 ranking and has posted a 10-10 record, including a 9-6 record in dual matches. De Klerk has posted an 8-6 record at the No. 1 singles position and a 3-5 record against nationally ranked opponents and a 4-5 record against regionally ranked opponents.

Senior Clifford Marsland is ranked at No. 84 and has posted a 13-4 record this season, including an 11-3 record in dual matches. Marsland has posted a 10-3 record at the No. 2 singles position and a 3-3 record against nationally ranked opponents and a 6-3 record against regionally ranked opponents.

Junior Alejandro Espejo is ranked No. 125 and has posted a 17-7 record this season, including a 13-3 record in dual matches. Espejo's lost on Sunday snapped a 10-match winning streak and gave his first lost at the No. 3 singles position, giving him a 9-1 record. He is 1-0 against nationally ranked opponents and 4-2 record against regionally ranked opponents.

TU doubles duo of Marsland and sophomore Dylan McCloskey is ranked No. 22 and is the highest Conference USA doubles duo ranked. The duo has posted an 11-8 record this season, including a 9-7 record at the No. 1 doubles position.

The Golden Hurricane fell three spots from No. 35 to No. 38 after losing to host No. 5 Baylor 4-0 on Friday and to host No. 8 Texas 4-0 on Sunday.

The Golden Hurricane takes a week off before hosting its final two regular season matches. Tulsa faces No. 31 South Florida on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 3 Oklahoma on Sunday at 2 p.m.
