2013 NCAA Singles Bracket Get Acrobat Reader| NCAA Championship Central

Juniors Japie De Klerk and Clifford Marlsand learned their matchups in the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles Championship on Tuesday.

De Klerk, ranked No. 41 in the latest ITA Rankings, will face the No. 63-ranked Victor Valente of Georgia State on Wednesday, May 22 at 8 a.m. Marsland, listed at No. 56 in the ITA singles rankings, earned an 11:30 a.m. matchup against No. 14 Nik Scholtz of Mississippi on Wednesday.

De Klerk earned the Conference USA automatic bid by being the highest ranked player in the league. De Klerk, has a 21-11 record for the Golden Hurricane, including nine wins against nationally ranked foes. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships in October. This marks the second time De Klerk has been in the NCAA singles field, as he played in the tournament  during his freshman campaign after being named the fourth-alternate.

Marsland tallied a 17-4 record during the spring and a 20-5 ledger during the entire season. Marsland had a sparkling 10-2 record playing No. 1 singles for TU, and a 7-2 record at No. 2 singles. Marsland was named Conference USA Player of the Week twice during the season. He earned a 4-3 record against ranked opponents, including wins against No. 49 ranked Rok Bonin of Minnesota, No. 60 Mate Zsiga of Baylor, No. 8 ranked Marcos Giron of UCLA and No. 116 Samir Iftikhar of New Mexico. He earned a season-high ITA Ranking of No. 44. This marks the first year Marsland will compete in the individual championship after earning All-American honors last year with Ashley Watling in doubles.

Valente holds a 28-8 ledger with seven wins against ranked opponents, and led Georgia State into the NCAA Team Championship. Valente was named the Souteast Regional Senior of the Year and was honored with the  Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.

Scholtz is 20-8 this season,and has registered seven wins against ranked opponents. This marks the second year the sophomore has been seeded in the NCAA Championship, as he reached the Elite Eight last season as a freshman for the Rebels.
