Tulsa Players Await Qualifying rounds at D'Novo ITA All-American Championships

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team will wait until Monday to play again in the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships after having three players lose in pre-qualifying singles on Saturday. Albert Jou, Rusty Turpin, and James Seagraves all dropped pre-qualifying singles matches to end their run at making the qualifying rounds.
Junior Albert Jou dropped his second round match to Texas A&M's Kayvon Karimi, 6-2, 6-3, after receiving a first round bye, and freshman Rusty Turpin lost his second round match to Jose Perdomo of Ball State, 6-4, 6-4, eliminating him from the tournament as well.
James Seagraves fell in the third round to Ohio State's Shuhei Uzawa, 6-1, 6-3, after receiving a second round bye when East Tennessee State's Grega Teraz withdrew from the tournament.
Tulsa will have four singles players and one doubles team in action for qualifying singles and doubles. Victor Kolik, Marko Ballok, Philip Stephens and Ross Cunningham will all participate in singles, while Alberto Sottocorno and Marko Ballok will team up for doubles.
Pre-qualifying singles wrap up tomorrow with a total of 16 players advancing to qualifying singles, which take place on Oct. 6-8. Doubles start on Tuesday Oct. 7.
Admission to the tournament is free.
