Tulsa's Arnau Brugues Named C-USA Men's Tennis Player of the Month

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Arnau Brugues was named Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Month after starting the season with a 7-2 singles record and a 4-1 doubles mark. The reigning three-time C-USA Men's Tennis Player of the Year and the No. 6-ranked player in the country holds a 4-2 singles record and a 3-1 doubles record against ranked opponents this season.
In singles, Brugues advanced to the Round of 16 at the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships defeating ranked opponents in each of the first two rounds. Brugues claimed second place at the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate on Sept. 28, defeating second-ranked Denes Lukacs of Baylor in the semifinals before falling to Oklahoma State's top-ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov in the finals.
Brugues and partner Philip Stephens finished second in Main Draw Doubles at the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships going 4-1 in the tournament, including a 3-1 record against ranked opponents.
It is the second time in Brugues' career to win the C-USA Men's Tennis Player of the Month, with the last award coming back in 2006 as a sophomore.
Tulsa continues its fall schedule on Thursday at the Wilson ITA Regional Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
