Britney Brown is in her third season at The University of Tulsa.
In her first season, she helped coach a team that had earned just five wins, including one Conference USA victory, in the previous year to a team that posted 13 wins, finished league play with an 8-8 record and a sixth-place league finish, which was the best since 2006.
A year later, Brown helped the program take another big step forward as the Hurricane captured the Conference USA tournament title, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and posted the first non-losing record (17-17) since 2006.
Brown came to Tulsa after serving two years (2009-11) as an assistant basketball coach at Putnam City West High School. Before that, Brown was the video coordinator/film exchange coach for the women's basketball team at the University of Oklahoma for two years (2007-09), and coached individual basketball lessons and camps while earning her graduate degree.
Brown was a four-year letterwinner at Oklahoma, playing in 129 games and starting 59 contests. During her career, she led OU to five combined Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament championships, including a perfect 19-0 record in league play as a junior. Brown also helped lead Oklahoma to four NCAA Tournament berths, including a Sweet 16 appearance during her junior and senior campaigns. For her efforts, she earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades in 2005-06.
A 2007 Oklahoma graduate, Brown was a camp instructor at the OU women's basketball summer camps from 2003 through 2010.
A native of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Brown played prep basketball at Norman North High School, where she finished her career as the school's all-time scoring and assists leader.
Brown, 26, earned her bachelor's degree in communication in 2007 and a master's degree in human relations in 2009, both from the University of Oklahoma.
