In his sixth season as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Tulsa women's basketball team is Grant Garner.
Garner oversees team travel and scheduling, purchasing of team equipment, and supervises team managers. He also serves as the director of the TU women's basketball summer camps.
Garner, 43, returned to college basketball after spending eight years as an accountant, internal auditor and inventory control manager for WestPoint Stevens, Inc.
Before that, Garner was the Director of Club Sports for Auburn University Recreational Services from 1994-97. He directed 30 club sports, which included over 500 members, and was responsible for the hiring, training, supervising and evaluating of student employees.
Both Garner and Thomas-Swinson worked together on Joe Ciampi's women's basketball staff at Auburn from 1992-94. Thomas-Swinson was an assistant coach for the Tigers, while Garner served as a graduate assistant manager. He assisted the coaching staff with recruiting, film exchange, team travel, game film breakdown and many other day-to-day responsibilities. He was a part of the Auburn teams that reached the NCAA Tournament "Sweet 16" in 1992-93 and the Round of 32 in 1993-94.
Garner received his bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from Troy State in 1989. He earned a second bachelor's degree in physical education in 1993 and received his master's degree two years later in physical education, both from Auburn.
Garner and his wife, Susan, have one daughter, Erin, and a son, Logan.
