Tulsa Trio Post Double-Digit Points in 80-66 Loss to Tulane

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa's Taylor Hooker, Denise Lewis and Amanda Mason all posted double-digit points, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Hurricane dropped an 80-66 decision to Tulane on Sunday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Tulsa fell to 5-8 on the season and 1-4 in Conference USA, while the Green Wave moved to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in the league.
Hooker notched a career-high 14 points, followed by Lewis with 12 and Mason with 11. Loren McDaniel pulled down a team-best eight rebounds, while Tatum Beer had four assists and two blocks, and Taleya Mayberry and Chanice Scott earned three steals apiece.
Mason and McDaniel each had five points in the first half, but Mayberry, Tulsa's season scoring leader, picked up her third foul of the contest with just 1:09 ticked off the clock and did not return to the game for the remainder of the half. The Golden Hurricane struggled, shooting just 18-percent from the field and went 0-5 from behind the arc. Tulsa earned 10 points from the charity strip and trailed 38-18 at the break.
The Golden Hurricane cut the deficit to 10, 46-36, at the 15-minute mark of the second half as TU started the half with an 18-8 run. Tulsa then pulled to within seven with just over 12 minutes remaining, but the Green Wave again inched ahead to earn the 14-point victory.
Tulsa shot 61-percent from the field in the second half to finish with a 43-percent field goal percentage, while shooting just 15-percent from three-point range and 64-percent from the free throw line.
Danielle Nunn led Tulane with 19 points, while Brett Benzio had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Brittany Lindsey added 11 points.
Tulsa returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 27th against UTEP. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. Central at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
