Tulsa Trio Tally Double-Digit Scoring to Give TU a 56-52 Win Over Southern Miss

Tulsa, Okla. - Tandem Mays, Jillian Robbins and Dana Idlet all tallied double-digit points for Tulsa in a 56-52 victory over Southern Miss on Friday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane moved to 8-13 on the year and 3-6 in Conference USA, while the Golden Eagles fell to 11-11 on the season and 5-4 in the league.
Mays recorded a team-best 12 points, and added five rebounds, four assists and one block in 39 minutes of play. Robbins notched 10 points and pulled down a team-leading 12 rebounds for her 61st career double-double. She also had an impressive seven blocks, four steals and four assists. Idlet registered 10 points, as well.
The Golden Eagles took a 10-point advantage into the break, led by as many as 14 points in the second half, and maintained the lead until 6:53 remaining in the second half, but TU fought back, outscoring Southern Miss 36-22 in the second half. The Golden Hurricane went on an 8-2 run, but the Golden Eagles put together seven unanswered points to tie the contest at 51-51 with 1:26 left in the contest.
Tulsa regained the lead with 1:13 remaining with a lay up by Idlet. Idlet scored again with six seconds remaining, and after a missed three-pointer by the Golden Eagles, Mays drew a foul and went 1-2 from the line with only a second remaining for the win.
Lauren Pittman led the Golden Eagles with 15 points, while Liz Biland added 11 points, and Emer Foley had a team-best 11 rebounds.
The Golden Hurricane will travel to Orlando, Florida on Sunday, February 4th to take on UCF beginning at 12 noon (CST) at the UCF Arena.
