Tulsa Women Earn C-USA Victory Over Tulane, 80-67

New Orleans, La. - Taleya Mayberry, Kara Vaughan, Larrissa Williams and Denise Lewis each scored in double figures to give Tulsa an 80-67 win over Tulane on Friday night at Fogelman Arena in New Orleans, La. The Golden Hurricane moved to 7-12 on the season and 1-7 in Conference USA, while the Green Wave fell to 16-5 overall and 5-3 in the league.
Mayberry had a team-leading and personal-best 23 points, followed by Vaughan and Williams with 14 apiece, and Lewis with 10 points. Teka Brooks and Tiffani Couisnard each pulled down seven rebounds, while Jermaine Kermis had five assists.
In the first half, the Golden Hurricane couldn't be stopped, shooting 70-percent from the field and 57-percent from behind the arc. Tulsa continued to increase the lead, capturing a first-half high 18-point advantage with 43 seconds remaining. Vaughan led Tulsa's attack with 11 points off three three-pointers and had four assists, while Mayberry added nine points and three assists in the first 20 minutes.
Tulane out-scored Tulsa, 37-34, in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Hurricane recorded a 13-point victory.
Tulsa finished with a 54-percent field goal percentage, 46-percent three-point field goal percentage and shot 56-percent from the charity stripe.
The Green Wave was led by four players in double figures, including Danielle Nunn with 16, Tiffany Aidoo and Roshaunda Barnes each with 13, and Olivia Grayson with 11.
Tulsa returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 7th against UTEP. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. CST at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
