Tulsa, Oklahoma - Larrissa Williams and Chanice Scott each scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as Tulsa dropped a 62-56 decision to Rice on Friday night at the Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas. TU fell to 6-19 on the season and 2-11 in Conference USA, while Rice moved to 7-19 overall and 2-11 in the league.

Williams posted her 28th career double-double as she scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Scott had a career-high 10 points. Tiffani Couisnard also had 10 boards, to go along with six points, two steals and two assists in front of her home crowd.

TU and Rice traded baskets in the first eight minutes, as the score was tied for the third time at 10-all with 12:41 remaining. The Owls, however, climbed to a 13-point lead throughout the remainder of the half, taking a 36-23 advantage into the break.

In the second half, TU closed the gap and out-scored Rice, 33-26, but it wasn't enough to overcome the first-half deficit. The Golden Hurricane shot 37-percent from the field and 70-percent from the free throw line, and out-rebounded the Owls, 38-31.

The Owls were led by Maudess Fulton who scored 16 points and Tara Watts who had nine points, while Morgan Mayse had a team-best nine rebounds.

The Golden Hurricane will return to action on Sunday, February 22nd against Houston. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Hofheinz Pavillion.

The 2009 Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship is set to get underway on March 5-8 in New Orleans. For the past 13 years the league has awarded the championship trophy to eight different outstanding teams.
