Tulsa Drops 75-74 Decision to Loyola Marymount at Junkanoo Jam

Freeport, Bahamas - The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a tightly contested 75-74 decision to Loyola Marymount on Saturday afternoon at the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas. TU fell to 0-5 on the season, while LMU moved to 4-3 overall. Taleya Mayberry recorded a team-leading 21 points, five assists and two steals in 28 minutes of action after playing just eight minutes in the first half due to foul trouble. Tiffani Couisnard posted her eighth double-double with 16 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. She also registered three assists, two steals and two blocks in the contest. Ashley Clark had 10 points and six rebounds. Couisnard had a team-best 12 points to lead the Hurricane to a 37-22 advantage at the break. TU shot a solid 51-percent from the field in the first frame for 16 field goals, had just six turnovers and recorded five steals in the first 20 minutes. In the second half, LMU outscored Tulsa, 53-37, and forced 10 TU turnovers. The Hurricane shot just 28-percent in the second half for 39-percent in the contest from the field, 38-percent from three-point range and 73-percent from the charity stripe. The Lions were led by Alex Cowling with 19 points, while Hazel Ramirez and Melinda Gomez each had 10. Mackenzie Kerins posted 10 rebounds. Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, November 29th against Utah Valley. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
