Tulsa, Oklahoma - Kara Vaughan and Antoinette Brown each posted double-digit points for Tulsa in a 72-53 win over Texas Southern on Wednesday afternoon in the final game of the Tulsa Select Holiday Classic. The Golden Hurricane moved to 4-7 on the season, while TSU fell to 2-8.

Vaughan had a team-best 13 points, and added three assists, two rebounds and a steal, while Brown registered 10 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Larrissa Williams had a team-leading four blocks and nine boards, to go along with nine points. For their efforts, Vaughan and Williams were named to the Tulsa Select Holiday Classic All-Tournament team.

The Golden Hurricane shot 47-percent from the field, 38-percent from behind the arc and 93-percent from the free throw line. Nearly half, 34, of TU's points came from the bench, while 14 were second-chance points and 28 were in the paint. Tulsa out-rebounded Texas Southern, 36-28, and had eight blocks in the game.

Tulsa struggled in the first four minutes, giving the Tigers an early 4-0 lead, but a jumper by Chanel Johnson and a trey by Vaughan gave TU a 5-4 advantage and they never looked back. The Golden Hurricane maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the game, climbing to a 28-point lead with just 4:48 left in the contest, and finished just one-point shy of the Golden Hurricane's second 20-point win on the year.

Brandi Justice led TSU with 16 points and six rebounds, while Jasmine Cannon added nine points and Trikeyia East had eight.

Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, January 3rd in the Conference USA season opener against SMU. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
