Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team will kick off the Conference USA regular season against SMU on Saturday, Jan. 5th beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

TU enters the contest with a 4-9 overall record, including a 2-1 mark in the last three contests and a 62-49 win over Stephen F. Austin in the last match up. The Golden Hurricane will be led by sophomore Larrissa Williams who owns a team-best 12.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season. Freshman Tatum Beer averages just below double-digits with 9.5 ppg, and has a team-leading 40 assists and 23 steals, while Chanel Johnson has registered 41 blocks.

Tulsa ranks first among all Conference USA schools in blocked shots, tallying 90 blocks for a 6.92 average per game. The Golden Hurricane has also pulled down impressive rebound numbers, ranking fifth in offensive boards (194/14.92 rpg) and third in defensive rebounds (359/27.6 rpg).

The Mustangs are off to a 10-3 start this season and are coming off a narrow 74-72 victory over UTSA on Jan. 2nd. SMU's Janielle Dodds and Delisha Wills both average double-digits this season with 13.5 ppg and 13.2 ppg, respectively, while on the defensive side of the ball, Dodds also leads with 7.0 rpg.

The Golden Hurricane and Mustangs will face off for the 26th time on Saturday, as SMU leads the series 17-8. TU, however, tallied a 74-55 victory in the last meeting.
