Tulsa's Teka Brooks Named C-USA Spirit of Service Honoree

IRVING, Texas - Tulsa junior forward Teka Brooks was selected to receive the C-USA Spirit of Service award, as announced today by Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky. Twelve student-athletes from across the league were honored.
Brooks is a three-year letterwinner for the Golden Hurricane women's basketball team. She has started 15 of 87 career games, has career averages of 3.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, and has tallied 10 career double-figure scoring contests. In her free time, the Denton, Texas native devotes her time to the Big Brother and Big Sisters program in Tulsa where she mentors young children. The exercise sports science major with a minor in education also participated in the NCAA Student Leadership Conference.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service award will be presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's winter sports: men's and women's basketball, indoor track & field, rifle and swimming.
