Tulsa, Oklahoma - Kathy McConnell-Miller has announced her resignation as the head women's basketball coach at The University of Tulsa, according to TU's Director of Athletics Judy MacLeod. McConnell-Miller is expected to be named the head coach at the University of Colorado.

In six seasons at Tulsa, McConnell-Miller compiled a 91-88 overall record. She is the school's all-time leader for coaching victories, and registered the longest tenure in school history by a TU women's basketball coach. This past season, McConnell-Miller guided Tulsa to a 19-11 overall record, a third-place finish in Western Athletic Conference play and the Golden Hurricane posted its second straight postseason appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

TU tied the school record for overall and conference wins (11), and established a new single season record with 12 home wins. Tulsa began the season with a school record seven-game win streak and received votes in either the Associated Press Top-25 poll or the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top-25 poll for five weeks.

McConnell-Miller guided the Hurricane to winning seasons in three out of the last four years, and led Tulsa to 14 or more wins in five of her six seasons, including two 19-win campaigns and one 17-victory season. She was named the WAC Coach of the Year during her first season at Tulsa in 1999-2000.

McConnell-Miller became the eighth head coach in the history of the Tulsa women's basketball program on April 12, 1999, but just the second since the women's program was reinstated in 1996-97.

"Kathy McConnell-Miller has done a tremendous job of both building and elevating the Tulsa women's basketball program during her tenure, and we wish her the best at Colorado," MacLeod said. "With the type of student-athletes we have in our basketball program, I expect that they will rally around this and work even harder to further the success that the Tulsa women's basketball program has enjoyed the past two years."

MacLeod indicated a national search for a head women's basketball coach will commence immediately.
