Tulsa, Oklahoma - After posting a school-best fourth-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference a year ago, the Tulsa women's basketball team has been picked to finish in sixth place according to the 2000-01 WAC Basketball Coaches' Preseason Poll.

Hawai`i earned one first-place vote and received 51 points to finish in second place. TCU, Rice, the 1999-2000 WAC Tournament champions, and Nevada, the league's newest member, were picked to finish third through fifth, respectively. TCU and Rice also received one first-place vote each.
