Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team will play its first of two exhibition games on Saturday, Nov. 3 against the OK Flyers at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

Tulsa is under the direction of third-year head coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson, who is assisted by LaTricia Gunnells, Chandra Dorsey and Rebecca Kates. Gunnells also enters her third season at TU, while Dorsey and Kates are new additions for the 2007-08 campaign.

Tulsa also returns three letterwinners and two squad members, while welcoming five newcomers to the team. Sophomore Larrissa Williams is the Golden Hurricane's lone returning starter to the lineup, but classmates Teka Brooks and Destanie Gardner combined for 19 starts during the 2006-07 season. Chanel Johnson and Adria Phillips gained a season's knowledge after sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules, while freshman-transfer Kathleen Moroney, and true freshmen Tatum Beer, Kensey Hall, ReShawndra Jackson and Kara Vaughan join the TU team this year.

The Golden Hurricane will play a 29-game regular-season schedule, featuring 10 2007 postseason teams, 15 home contests, including the Holiday Inn Select Thanksgiving Tournament, a 16-game conference slate and state schools Oklahoma and Oral Roberts. The 10 2007 postseason teams include Belmont (NCAA), East Carolina (NCAA), Oklahoma (NCAA), Oral Roberts (NCAA), Oregon (WNIT), Rice (WNIT), Southeast Missouri State (NCAA), Stephen F. Austin (WNIT), Tulane (WNIT) and UAB (WNIT).

 

 

TU will face some very familiar faces on the OK Flyers team, including former Golden Hurricane standouts Kara Pongonis -Paslay (2002-06), Emily Jaskowiak (2001-06) and Becky Heidotten (2000-05).
