Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's basketball will host the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders in a first time meeting at 3:00 p.m. this Saturday at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The contest will also feature a Toy Drive for the Salvation Army's "Toys-For-Tots" program. Each fan that donates a toy will be entered into various prize contests.

Tulsa (1-4, 0-0 WAC) is coming off its first victory of the season and will look to begin the month of December with a win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. TU junior Leela Farr leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 12.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Tulsa is averaging 52.4 points and 31.8 rebounds per game. The Golden Hurricane is 1-1 at home this season. In just under two seasons at the Reynolds Center, Tulsa boasts an overall record of 14-8 and a Western Athletic Conference mark of 10-4.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-3) is in its second season of women's basketball. The Islanders completed their inaugural season in 1999-2000 with an overall mark of 14-12. TAMUCC's Sheryl Estes is in her second season as head coach and boasts an overall record of 18-15. Before taking over the reins of the Islander basketball program, Estes spent two seasons as the head coach of the Colorado Xplosion of the American Basketball League (ABL). She led the Xplosion to 46-38 mark and a Western Conference title and ABL semifinal appearance in 1997.

The Islanders 2000-01 roster features two players from the state of Oklahoma. Sophomore Kristin Rogers is a native of nearby San Springs, while classmate Amanda Bryant hails from Midwest City. Rogers leads the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game, while junior Jean Clark is the top rebounder with 7.5 boards per contest. The Islanders are averaging 66.6 points and 34.3 rebounds per game.
