Dec. 10, 2009
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team returns home to host cross-town rival Oral Roberts on Saturday, Dec. 12th beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. This is the first home contest for TU since Nov. 21 after a five-game road swing.
Tulsa enters the contest with a 3-4 record after dropping three straight in a tough road schedule, but TU looks to end that streak in the friendly confines of the Reynolds Center. Senior Larrissa Williams and freshman Taleya Mayberry are leading the Golden Hurricane in scoring this season with 13.6 ppg and 10.6 ppg, respectively. Tiffani Couisnard pulls down a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game, while Mayberry owns 24 assists and 21 steals, and Williams has nine blocks.
Oral Roberts posts a 6-2 record this season, including a 99-72 victory over UMKC earlier this week. The Golden Eagles currently lead the nation with 93.8 points and 16.1 steals per game. Kevi Luper posts 28.3 ppg to lead ORU and the nation in scoring, while her 5.1 steals per game is second in the nation. Janae Voelker (13.9), Jordan Pyle (12.4) and Jaci Bigham (11.3) also net double-digit points, while Pyle has a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game.
This will be the 33rd meeting between the two teams, as the Golden Eagles have a 27-5 advantage in the series.
