A Day in the Life of Tiffani Couisnard
It's me, Tiffani Couisnard, post- player for The University of Tulsa.
Quick Background: As a 5th Year Senior, my days are quite flexible. I have been doing an internship for the past three weeks or so with the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce. Initially I worked with the Sports Commissioners department of the chamber, then I interned directly under the human resources manager. Now, I am currently working two hours out of the day with the Career Service Department on Campus.
Today: I started my morning off with a 5:50 am workout session. Our strength and conditioning coach, Ryan, said that today was supposed to be "light" but with how my legs were feeling, it sure did not seem like it. We had a "beasty" workout. We began with combining the medicine ball and abdominal drills to strengthen our core. Then we ended with max out on bench press and chin ups. I felt like I got better today and that is what it is all about.
After workout I went home to my son, Malachi. My teammates like to call him Mali, Malo, or Mal. He is one-and-a-half and full of energy and joy. I spent the rest of my morning getting him ready and prepared for school. After I dropped Malachi off, I went to Barns and Noble for my quiet time. I like to go there to read books and people watch. I find watching people very interesting, don't judge me, my major is psychology. At around 10:30 I headed back to campus to be on time for work at 11:00.
At the Career Service department I work under an amazing lady named, Shelly Holly. Today I made packets, answered phone calls and read through emails. I also was able to begin reading a book titled, "Confessions of a Recruiting Director: The Insider's Guide to Landing Your First Job." As a senior, this book is going to help me develop skills that I can use when it is time for me to work in the professional world. Since I've already graduated, I am at a crossroads. I need to figure out what I want to during my final year of eligibility. I have multiple options and right now I am just trying to figure what direction I want and need to go. Working in the Career Service department is not only helping me gain experience, but also it is helping prepare me for whatever I decide.
Finally, I was able to pick Mali up early from school. We got to go to the water parks. Mali absolutely loves water! With it being so hot, the water felt great.
I spend most of my afternoons either getting in extra time in the gym or spending quality time with my son. This summer has been good to me. I love all of the experiences that I've received and I am a very happy Hurricane. I hope you enjoyed reading about a day in my world!
