Tulsa National Tournament Medilists


Nancy Lopez


NANCY LOPEZ-- ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO
1976 National Champion - AIAW
Played at Tulsa from the 1975-76 season through the 1976-77 season before turning professional... a two-time All-American... as a freshman, she was the 1976 AIAW National Individual champion as Tulsa placed second as a team... Lopez was the medalist in 10 out of 19 collegiate tournaments, and placed in the top three in 13 of 19 tourney's... as a freshman, she won six of nine tournaments... she placed second individually in the 1977 AIAW National Championship... Lopez left Tulsa after her sophomore season... her first year on the LPGA tour resulted in records for rookie earnings, official money, and scoring average... she won LPGA Rookie of the Year honors and was the LPGA Player of the Year... Lopez also set a record for consecutive victories that same year with five.

 


Kathy Baker


KATHY BAKER-- CLOVER, SOUTH CAROLINA
1982 National Champion - NCAA
Played at Tulsa from the 1979-80 season through the 1982-83 season... was the 1982 NCAA individual medalist as a junior... was a member of the 1982 NCAA national championship team and the 1982 AIAW national championship team... placed ninth at the 1982 AIAW national championships... earned first-team All-America honors in 1982 and 1983... she along with Nancy Lopez and Jody Rosenthal are the only Tulsa golfers to earn first-team All-America honors more than once... placed in the top 20 in 14 career tournaments... placed in the top 10 in 12 career tournaments... had three first place finishes in her career at Tulsa, including the 1982 NCAA championship and the Nancy Lopez Invitational and the San Jose State Invitational, both in her senior year... as a senior, she had five top six finishes... placed sixth at the 1980 AIAW national championship as a freshman... was a four-year letterwinner and two-time team MVP.

 

Melissa McNamara


MELISSA McNAMARA-- TULSA, OKLAHOMA
1988 National Champion - NCAA
Played at Tulsa from the 1984-85 season through the 1987-88 season... was the 1988 NCAA Championship medalist and led her squad to the team championship... earned All-America honors at Tulsa in all four seasons... was a first-team All-America selection as a senior and earned second -team honors in 1986 and 1987... she earned honorable mention All-America honors as a freshman in 1985... placed in the top 10 in 22 of 41 collegiate tournaments... the daughter of Tulsa head coach Dale McNamara... was an AJGA first-team All-America performer in 1982, 1983, and 1984... was a four-year letterwinner.
