Oxford, Miss. - The Tulsa women's golf team finished in second place at the 54-hole BancorpSouth Rebel Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon. The Hurricane carded a final round even-par 288 for an 879 total score, while Tulsa senior Marita Engzelius carded a final round three-under par 69 to place second overall in the individual race at the par-72 Ole Miss Golf Course.

After a five-birdie round yesterday, Engzelius turned in a final round with four birdies and just one bogey on Sunday for her three-under par score to finish the tournament with a five-under par 211 for her second-place performance. She had a five-bogey day for her first round score on Friday, but had just one bogey on her final 36 holes.

Engzelius was edged out in the individual race by one stroke by Baylor's Jaclyn Jansen. Jansen carded a round of 71 today for a 210 total.

The Hurricane, who began the day in fourth place, was edged out in the team scoring by Baylor as the Lady Bears finished with an 871 total to Tulsa's 879. Host Mississippi finished in third place with a score of 881, followed by fourth-place Missouri (896) and fifth-place Minnesota (899).

Tulsa junior Kristina Merkle carded a final round one-under par 71 to complete the tournament with a three-over par 219 and finish in sixth place overall. Senior Sarah Elliott turned in her best performance of the season with a 14th-place finish as she carded a round of 76 today for a final score of 224.

Freshman Anna Young had her best finish of her young career with a 19th place performance after turning in an even-par 72 on Sunday for a 225 total. Junior Kayla Riede finished the tournament with a score of 235 for 68th place.

Tulsa plays next at the Conference USA Championships, April 22-24, in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
