Tulsa Women in 14th Place at NCAA West Regional

Auburn, Washington - The Tulsa women golf team is in a three-way tie for 14th place after the opening round of the NCAA West Regional. The Hurricane carded a score of 310 and is tied with New Mexico and San Diego State at the par-72 Washington National Golf Club on Thursday.
No. 1-ranked Southern Cal leads the 24-team field after carding an opening round even-par 288 score. Sixth-ranked Virginia (290), 13th-ranked Tennessee (292) 22nd-ranked UC Davis (300) and 26th-ranked Texas A&M round out the top five schools.
Tulsa junior Marita Engzelius turned in the best round of the day for the Hurricane with a three-over par 75 and sits in 26th place. Freshman Charlotte Brooks had Tulsa's second-best score of the day with a total of 77 for 54th place.
Tennessee's Erica Popson holds the individual lead with a four-under par score of 68.
The NCAA West Regional continues Friday with 18 holes and will conclude on Saturday. The top-8 schools and two individuals from each of the three regions will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 18-21, at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.
