The Tulsa women's golf team finished in 12th place at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. The Hurricane carded a final round 299 for a 54-hole total of 921 at the par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.
The host Oklahoma Sooners captured the team title with a 29-stroke victory over second-place Notre Dame in the 18-team field. The Sooners finished with a five-under par score of 859, while Notre Dame turned in a score of 888 and was followed by Denver (898), Texas Tech (899) and SMU (901) rounding out the top-five teams.
Tulsa senior Kristina Merkle finished in an 18th place tie with a nine-over par score of 225 after her final round score of 77. Fellow senior Shu-Yin Liu turned in Tulsa's best individual round of the tournament with a one-under par score of 71 for a 226 score to finish in 24th place overall.
Freshman Antonia Von Wnuck scored a final round 76 and completed the three-day tournament with a score of 230 for 47th place. Fellow newcomers Karson Bizzell and Jessica Lydia placed 81st and 89th, respectively. Bizzell had her best round of 75 today for a 240 total, while Lydia also had her best round of the tournament with a score of 79 and a total of 247.
Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil claimed individual medalist honors with a seven-under par 209 score.
Tulsa will be back in action at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, October 28-30, in Austin, Texas.
