The University of Tulsa women's golf team concluded the fall season with a seventh place finish at the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational at the par-72 Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku, Hawaii. The Golden Hurricane carded a 298 in the first round, a 303 in the second round and a 301 in today's final round for a 902 54-hole total.
UC Davis captured the team title with a nine-stroke advantage with a four-over par 868. UCLA finished second with an 877 total and Southern California was two strokes back with an 879. California (883) and Oregon (896) rounded out the top five teams.
Southern California's Lizette Salas claimed the individual title with an eight-under par 208. San Jose State's Cristina Corpus and UC Davis' Amy Simanton were five strokes back in a tie for second place.
Kristina Merkle turned in the best performance for TU with her fifth-place 216 total. Shu-Yin Liu posted a 227 score for 26th place and Marita Engzelius was two strokes back in 35th place. Abby Allford was 39th with a 230 score and Sarah Elliot was 79th with her 240 total.

Since the opening of the Donald W. Reynolds Center in 1998, Tulsa’s athletic facilities have undergone a major facelift. New facilities include the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, the Collins Family Softball Complex, the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium, the J. TU is 75th among national doctoral universities in U. S. News & World Report's 2012 edition of America's Best Colleges. TU's 2011 freshman class had a mean cumulative grade point average of 3.8, and 74 percent graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school classes. Their average ACT was 28.
