Erie, Colorado - The Tulsa women golfers are in a three-way tie for 11th place after second round action at the NCAA Women's Golf West Regional on Friday. The Hurricane carded a score of 303 for a 36-hole total of 600 at the par-72 Colorado National Golf Club.

The final 18 holes will be played on Saturday with the top-eight teams qualifying for the NCAA Championship Finals. The Hurricane is three strokes out of eighth place and just seven strokes behind fifth place.

Stanford leads the 24-team field with a four-over par 580, followed by LSU (581) in second place, North Carolina (288) and UCLA (290) tied for fourth place, fifth-place Baylor (593), sixth-place Texas Tech (594), seventh-place Pepperdine (596) while California rounds of the top eight teams after the first 36 holes. Tulsa is tied with UC Davis and San Jose State for 11th place.

Tulsa's Kristina Merkle and Marita Engzelius are tied for 22nd place with totals of 148. Merkle turned in the best round of the day for the Hurricane with a one-over par 73, while Engzelius carded a second straight score of 74.

Merkle birdied the par-5 second hole to go one-under par, but a triple bogey on the third hole put her two-over par. Merkle then birdied and bogeyed the next two holes and finished the front nine at two-over par. On the back nine, Merkle played one over with two birdies and one bogey.

Freshman Anna Young is in 40th place with a score of 150, while junior Kayla Riede is in 71st place with a 154 total. Senior Kamryn Ruffin is in 102nd place with a two-round score of 158.

North Carolina's Catherine O'Donnell moved into first place with a total of five-under par 139.

The final 18 holes will be played on Saturday. Tulsa will tee-off at 7:30 am (MT).
