Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa golfer Kristina Merkle was named an honorable mention All-America selection by Golf Week magazine for the 2011-12 golf season. She has also recently qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur, which will be played August 6-12 at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio.

Merkle (Honolulu, Hawaii) was named the 2012 Conference USA Golfer of the Year as a junior and earned first-team all-conference honors for the third straight season. She was named the C-USA Golfer of the Week three times in the 2011-12 and placed among the top-6 in eight of 10 tournaments for the Golden Hurricane.

She finished the season with a 73.0 stroke average in 30 rounds of golf in 2011-12 and turned in a season-best second place finish at the Golf Week Conference Challenge and placed third at the Dale McNamara Invitational. Merkle placed fifth at the C-USA Championship to earn all-tournament team accolades in 2012.

In her career, Merkle has played in all 30 tournaments since coming to Tulsa and has placed among the top-10 in 20 career events.
