Freshmen Lead Hurricane After First Round at Topy Cup
Sept. 5, 2000 In the first collegiate tournament for Tulsa freshmen Julie Tvede of Denmark and Suzie Fisher of Australia, the newcomers had the best scores for the Hurricane at the 2000 Topy Cup U.S.-Japan Intercollegiate Golf Championship played at the Tanagura Country Club in Tanagura, Japan. Tvede and Fisher each carded six-over par 78s for Tulsa, while the Hurricane scored 319 as a team for fifth-place after the first 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament. Texas, the only other U.S. team in the women's field, is tied for the team lead with Kinki of Japan with a 306 total. Tohoku Fukushi and Nihon of Japan are third and fourth, respectively, after rounds of 308 and 317. Texas' Kristin Dufour carded a one-over par 73 to take a one-stroke individual lead into the second round. Tulsa's two-time All-American Stacy Prammanasudh stumbled to an 84, only her fourth round of over 80 in 66 rounds of collegiate golf. Competition resumes on Wednesday.
