Sept. 26, 2005

Albuquerque, New Mexxico - The Tulsa women's golf team opens the fall 2005 season today at the 27th Annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The 54-hole tournament takes place, Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 26-28, at the par-73 University of New Mexico Championship Course.

The 18-team field includes BYU, Baylor, California, Hawaii, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Ohio State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, South Carolina, Southern Call, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV and UTEP.

Tulsa will be led by senior Cas Bridge and the sophomore duo of Michaela Cavener and Leisl Hasbrouck. Bridge and Cavener were each named to the all-WAC second team a year ago. Both Cavener and Hasbrouck placed among the top-25 in five tournaments last year, while Bridge finished among the top-15 in four events in 2004-05 and has 12 career top-25 performances.

Over the years, Tulsa has won three Dick McGuire Invitational titles, including the 1979, 1981 and 1989 crowns. Individually, Tulsa's Sharon Barrett won medalist honors in 1979, while Kelly Robbins was the individual winner in 1989. The Hurricane did not participate at the event last year.
