Julie Domina is in her second season as the head novice coach and assistant varsity coach for the Golden Hurricane. Off the water, she oversees recruiting, team academics and community service, as well as assists with other aspects of the program.
In her first season at TU, Domina guided the Novice 4+ to a top finish in the Knecht Cup and the Novice 8+ to a top mark at the Midwest Intercollegiate.
Domina, 25, came to Tulsa from Ithaca College in New York where she was the head novice coach during the 2005-06 campaign. Under her guidance, Ithaca's First Novice boat compiled an 8-2 regular season record and was 12-3 in post-season racing, while the Second Novice boat turned in a 5-1 mark during the regular season and was 5-3 in post-season competition.
Prior to her stint at Ithaca College, Domina was a three-year letterwinner in rowing at the University of North Carolina from 2001-05. During her time at UNC, she received Rowing Rookie of the Year honors in 2002 and served as the varsity team captain during the final two seasons of her collegiate career. Her First Varsity Eight boat earned the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week once in 2004 and her team was honored with the ACC's Sportsmanship Award in 2004. Domina was named team MVP and was selected to the all-ACC rowing team during her senior season.
On the academic side, she was named to UNC's Dean's List for five semesters and was a four-time member of the ACC Honor Roll. As a senior, Domina earned the UNC Athletic Director's Scholar-Athlete Award and was named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar Athlete.
A native of Cary, North Carolina, Domina received her bachelor's degree in sports administration in May 2005 from North Carolina and her master's degree in sports psychology from Ithaca College in August 2006.
Domina is a member of CRCA and US Rowing, and holds a US Rowing Level II Coaching Certificate.
