Graduate Assistant

Katie Caves is in her second year as a graduate assistant coach with the Tulsa rowing team.

During the 2010-11 season, Caves helped coach TU to 22 first-place finishes and saw 57 boats medal in 11 regattas. The Golden Hurricane earned a sixth-place finish in the Lightweight 4+ at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship, medaled its first-ever boat at the Conference USA Championship as the Varsity 4+ picked up a bronze medal, and medaled all five boats at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association to tie for the women's team trophy. Thirty-one rowers received both TU and Conference USA Academic honors, while eight were named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes.

Caves came to Tulsa from the University of California where she led her Varsity 4+ team to a second-place finish in the 2010 NCAA Championships and a fourth-place performance in 2009. She also led her Cal team to three Pac-10 Team Championships, and finished in the top-three for three consecutive years at the NCAA Championships.

A native of San Carlos, Calif., Caves earned her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2010 from UC-Berkley.
