All eight of the TU boats finished in top-15

Rodney Mott is in his second year as an assistant coach, as well as boatman/rigger for the Golden Hurricane rowing team. He assists with the instruction of the novice and varsity crews, as well as oversees all the equipment that keeps the rowing team on the water and racing. Mott has been professionally involved in rowing for over 20 years.

During the 2010-11 season, Mott helped coach TU to 22 first-place finishes and saw 57 boats medal in 11 regattas. The Golden Hurricane earned a sixth-place finish in the Lightweight 4+ at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship, medaled its first-ever boat at the Conference USA Championship as the Varsity 4+ picked up a bronze medal, and medaled all five boats at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association to tie for the women's team trophy. Thirty-one rowers received both TU and Conference USA Academic honors, while eight were named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes.

Before coming to Tulsa, Mott served as the Head Rowing Coach and Lecturer for the Physical Education Department at Vassar College for four years. During his tenure, Mott's teams broke every team record in school history, and in the 2006-07 season, his team was ranked No. 13 in the country.

Mott previously served as head rowing coach at Willamette (1996-2006), Puget Sound (1989-1996) and North Idaho (1988-89), and was an assistant coach at Washington State (1988).

Mott received his degree in American studies from Washington State in 1991. He has been a member of US Rowing since 1984 and a member of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association since 1999. Mott holds a US Rowing Coaching Certification, Levels I, II, and III.

Mott and his wife, Tina, have one daughter, Makishi.
