Former Tulsa Rower Michelle Sechser Makes US National Team for Second Time

Sechser qualified in Lightweight Single

AT TULSA - Was a four-year letterwinner.

SENIOR (2007-08) - Participated in nine of 11 regattas . . . helped the Collegiate 4+ claim a top finish and the Collegiate 8+ post a second-place mark at the Head of the Des Moines . . . along with Angela Rozowski-Vogt, captured a first-place time in the Collegiate Pair at the Head of the Oklahoma, the Wichita Frostbite Regatta and the Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championship . . . also at the Oklahoma, was a member of the Collegiate 4+ that tallied a second-place finish with a time of 16:37.18 . . . aided the Championship 4+ to an eighth-place finish at the Head of the Charles . . . at the Wichita Frostbite Regatta, registered a top mark in the Open 4+ and the Varsity 8+ . . . also tallied top marks in the Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ at the Lawless Cup . . . guided the Varsity 4+ to a top finish and the Varsity 8+ to a third-place mark at the Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championship . . . was named TU's Student-Athlete of the Week on April 1st . . . was selected as Co-Rower of the Year and received TU's Ultimate Team honors.

JUNIOR (2006-07) - Participated in every regatta . . . helped the Collegiate 4+ earn a fourth-place mark and the Collegiate 2- `B' finish sixth at the Head of the Oklahoma . . . at the Wichita Frostbite, assisted the Open 4+ `B' to a top finish in a time of 9:52 . . . assisted the Varsity 2- `A' and the Varsity 8+ to top marks at the Wichita Frostbite . . . at the Lawless Cup, helped TU earn a top finish in both the Varsity 4+ `A' and the Varsity 8+ . . . rowed in the Varsity 8+, finishing sixth overall at the Knecht Cup and Dad Vail Regatta . . . assisted the Varsity 8+ to a top finish in the petite final at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship and to a third-place mark at the Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championship . . . also at the MIRC, aided the Varsity 2- `A' and Varsity 4+ `A' to top finishes.

SOPHOMORE (2005-06) - Participated in every regatta . . . notched a first-place finish in the Varsity 4+ at the Head of the Oklahoma . . . was a member of the Championship 4+ which finished fifth at the Head of the Charles . . . assisted the Varsity 4+ to a victory at the Wichita Frostbite . . . tallied a second-place finish in both the Varsity Pair and the Varsity 8+ at the Wichita Frostbite Regatta . . . assisted the Varsity 4+ to a victory over Kansas and Drake . . . helped the Varsity 8+ to a third-place finish in the petite final at the Lake Wheeler Invitational . . . tallied a first-place mark in the Varsity 4+ at the Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championships . . . was a member of the Varsity 8+ which tallied a third-place mark in the petite final at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship . . . led the Varsity 8+ to a sixth-place finish in the semifinals of the Dad Vail Regatta . . . received the TU Rowing Hammer Award, the Hurricane Heart and Pride Award, and was selected as the team MVP.

FRESHMAN (2004-05) - Participated in every regatta . . . a member of the Women's Open 4+ `B' that finished third at the Head of the Des Moines Regatta . . . raced in the Open Pair `B' that finished third . . . helped the Women's Open 8+ earn a third-place finish at the Head of the Oklahoma Centennial Regatta . . . led the Women's Open 4+ `B' to a third-place finish . . . stroked the Women's Youth 4+ to a sixth-place mark at the Head of the Charles Regatta . . . helped the Varsity 8+ to top finishes at the Lawless Cup and the Oklahoma Cup Regatta . . . was a member of the Varsity 8+ that finished fifth in the semifinals at the Dad Vail Regatta . . . received the team's First Year Rower Award.

PRIOR TO TULSA - Competed at the National Youth Invitational in 2003 and 2004, and at the US Rowing Nationals . . . was a member of the National Honor Society.

PERSONAL - A marketing major . . . born November 1, 1986 . . . one of two children of Mary and Tom Sechser . . . her sister, Jacquie, was a member of the rowing team at Sacramento State University . . . named to the TU Dean's List all four years . . . selected as a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar Athlete as a sophomore, junior and senior . . . as a junior and senior, earned C-USA Academic Medalist honors . . . picked up CRCA All-Region second-team accolades as a junior.
