Bob Vonfeldt is in his third season as the boatman/rigger for the Golden Hurricane rowing team.
He became the first boatman/rigger in school history in July of 2005. The boatman/rigger is responsible for the all of the equipment that it takes to keep a rowing team on the water and racing.
Vonfeldt's responsibilities at TU also include managing the facilities in which the Golden Hurricane rowers practice. He was instrumental in the installation of the indoor rowing tank at the Zink Indoor Rowing Center and oversaw the building of the J. Bird Sr. Shell Nest.
Harris and Vonfeldt worked together on the Kansas State staff from 2000-2002 as assistant coach and boatman/rigger, respectively. Vonfeldt came to TU after spending six years in the same capacity at KSU.
Prior to working at KSU, Vonfeldt served 20 years in the United States Army. During his 20 years of military service, Vonfeldt served all over the United States as well as Panama. He is also a veteran of the First Gulf War. His service included tours as an Army recruiter, aviation turbine engine mechanic, and sheet metal repair specialist working on Cobra and Apache series attack helicopters.
