Austin, Texas - The University of Tulsa women's Lightweight 4+ began the spring season against Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon at the Longhorn Invitational at Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas.

The Golden Hurricane trailed the Badgers by just eight seconds, finishing second in a time of 7:47.0. Wisconsin concluded the 2007 season as the top-ranked lightweight crew by USRowing.com.

TU's Lightweight 4+, coxed by senior Leslie Sanditen and consisting of freshmen Emily Callen and Heather Brooks, sophomore Susan Stangl, and senior Lisa Simes went after the Badgers for the first 750 meters of the 2,000-meter course.

"It was great to watch these women compete against the best in the nation," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "This was a great opportunity and I am very proud of these women. They gained a lot of confidence which will help us throughout the season, and overall it was a very positive experience."

Tulsa will open the regular season next Sunday, March 30th against Creighton in the Lawless Cup hosted at the J. Bird Sr. Shell Nest in Catoosa, Okla.
