Tulsa Tops UCF in Final Day of Longhorn Invitational
March 24, 2013
Austin, Texas - The Tulsa rowers topped UCF in all three races on Sunday morning in the final day of competition at the Longhorn Invitational at Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas.
"We had an exceptional day today," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "It was a really great way to finish out the Longhorn Invitational. The whole racing series for our program was great as all of our boats got faster as the weekend went on. We made some changes to our race plan last night and the team was really able to execute the new race plan today. The team is maturing a lot and I am proud of them. They did really well against the teams we will face again later this year, and we are sitting in a solid position as to where we want to be at the end of the year."
In the Varsity 8+, TU raced a time of 6:38.9, over seven seconds faster than the Knights, while the Second Varsity 8+ also posted a seven-second lead over UCF with a time of 6:50.6.
The Varsity 4+ earned the biggest victory of the day as they turned in a time of 7:46.6, nearly 38 seconds ahead of UCF's 8:24.3 mark.
