Mercer County, N.J. - Tulsa's Lightweight 8+ advanced to the Petite Final at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship after two races on Saturday in Mercer County Park in Mercer County, N.J.
TU's Angela Metzler, Jamie Roloff, Lindsay Crute, Marissa Catalanotto, Colleen Wohlrab, Emalia Seto, Abigail Elggren, Jessica LeafMeeker and Mary Kowalchyk posted a fourth-place time of 7:03.28 in the Heat behind Radcliffe, Boston and Princeton. The Hurricane then recorded a fourth-place mark with a time of 7:25.49 in the Repechage to advance to tomorrow's Petite Final.
"I was pretty pleased with the racing the women did today," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "Our Lightweight crew is a solid group of women and to see them race as well as we did in the Heat and then again in the Repechage was great. They are racing the best crews in the country so it is nice to be among them. Half of this boat is freshmen so there is a lot of good learning going on in the boat, which will help us in the future. We just want to go out tomorrow and have a good race and finish our year on a good note."
