Tulsa Rowers Record Four of Top Six Marks Against Notre Dame
Oct. 30, 2010
South Bend, Ind. - The University of Tulsa women's rowing team earned four of the top six finishes in the Open 4+ against Notre Dame on Saturday morning on the St. Joseph River in South Bend, Ind.
TU's `A' boat, consisting of Dana Urbanek, Jessica Fosdyck, Amanda Schenk, Stephanie Rogers and Katie Holtvogt turned in a second-place time of 11:38.7, just one second behind the Notre Dame `A' crew, while the TU `B' boat was third in a time of 11:57.8. The Hurricane `C' and `D' boats tallied fifth and sixth-place marks, respectively.
"I am pleased with our racing today," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "It is tough to lose to anyone by just one second. We just made a mistake going around the turn and Notre Dame capitalized on it. Today's race was a good test for our girls and a lot of fun. It showed that we are moving well in the small boats and that we can compete with a team at such a high level. We will continue to step and improve for our final race of the fall season."
The Tulsa rowers will conclude the 2010 fall season at the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 6-7 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
